I called Verizon last week to upgrade my Fios Internet connection.
While I was on the phone, jokingly, I asked them to sign me up for FiosTV while they were upgrading my connection speed.
The girl on the phone said, OK, but it won't be active until May '09.%3c3confused
Of course, I told her I've been given many different dates on the phone in the past 2 years, so I wouldn't be shocked if it changed.%3c3crmm

She said she understands that, but in this case they are actually allowing us to sign up for
a bundle, which she says doesn't happen until it's pretty much guaranteed that it's coming.
Just about that time, my headset battery died, and the call was dropped.%3c3cngry

Anyways, I called back the next day, spoke to a different person, and got the same story.
I signed up for a Internet/TV bundle, and I received a $5 discount on my internet price.
Once FiosTV is active, they will add the price of the TV bundle I choose.

Just wondering if anyone else has signed up, or heard similar info.

Hmm, not available online.  I did sign up for notification though, but I think I've done that 10x before.

It doesn't show up available for me either.
I only found out about it because I was on the phone making changes to my internet service, and jokingly asked for FiOS TV.

Besides, I don't think their notification service works too well.
I signed up for the notification of the internet availability.
I received my notification about 3 months after I had it installed.

Try calling them and asking about the pre-order bundle for FiOS TV.
Even if it doesn't happen in May as they told me, I still get to enjoy the $5 discount for the bundle.
Here's the number I called. 888-553-1555

For anyone who signed up for internet when it was first available, you may want to check what you originally ordered VS. what's available now.
When I signed up, the options for residential plans were;
1) 5MB down / 2MB up
2) 15MB down / 2MB up

Since then, Verizon has changed there options.
Now they offer these for residential plans;
1) 10MB down / 2MB up
2) 20MB down / 5MB up
3) 20MB down / 20MB up

Basically, they increased the basic speed on the first 2 options, and added a 3rd one.
The first 2 qualify for the $5 bundle discount.

Do you have DirecTV?  We have it but not through Verizon, so I'm wondering how that would all work?  Of course we can call, but it's so much nicer talking to a neighbor.  :)

I wouldn't hold my breath for FiOS TV. I've been in continuous contact with Verizon VPs over the lack of FiOS TV in Fontana. The last e-mail was only a couple of weeks ago, and the response was still the same... Not for the foreseeable future.

FiOS TV in Fontana is contingent on the upgrade of Verizon's Etiwanda Wire Center. The upgrade of the Etiwanda Wire Center will only happen when Verizon starts deploying FiOS in Rancho Cucamonga. To date, that still hasn't happened (started). Rancho Cucamonga has been terribly difficult to work with so Verizon passed them over multiple times, and according to the City, their last meeting with Verizon was in Oct '08, and they (the City) have no idea when Verizon is going to start work as they have yet (as of a couple of weeks ago) issue any permits to Verizon.

So, I'd be nothing but overjoyed if May '09 comes and we get FiOS TV, but it just doesn't seem likely.

Not sure how it will work w/ DirectTV. I suppose it depends on when your contract is up.

I actually have Dishnetwork.
Every time I've had an issue, I call them and make sure that they note it on my account.
When they installed it, I had them out at my house 4 times in 2 weeks to fix the installation.
After that, every time we had some wind, we would lose reception.

Since then, I've climbed on the roof, and added a cable to stabilize it. The wind is no longer an issue.
I told them the reason I'm so persistent about tracking my problems, and that they are logged on my account, is because I will cancel them as soon as FiOS TV is available.
Last time I called for a problem, I had them tell me what other issues were previously listed on my account.
There are approx. 9 issues, all relating to outages for more than a 24hr period plus the 3 initial installation problems.

Almost word for word what I told Verizon based on info I had seen in this forum.
Like I said, I was told they don't take pre-orders unless it's practically guaranteed.
Also, even it doesn't happen in May, I don't mind my $5 savings per month on internet.
If anyone plans on getting FiOS TV, and they currently have FiOS internet, it's at least worth the $5 off.

Sounds to me, like no one has called the # I posted and even asked. %3confused
I have a friend that lives in the area. I call him today and see if he can call Verizon to see what they tell him.
Technically, I live in the Coyote Canyon area, but my friend lives near the park at Bridlepath and Cherry.

I called Verizon today and they were unable to add FiOS TV as a pre-sale. I was able to upgrade my 15/2 internet service to 20/5 for the same price I'm paying now, but that was it.

Coyote Canyon is serviced in the same manor as Hunter's Ridge, so I think the pre-sale may just be a glitch in their system.

Interesting. Glad you got the faster speed.
Maybe it was a glitch, I'll take it though. %3cmile
I'm not calling back. I don't want them to know I got the bundle discount.

I'll believe it when I see it. Last summer, one of their sales reps came out and sold FiOS to us, and scheduled the installation. When they tech arrived, he informed us that FiOS wasn't available in our area. It was maddening. I'm reluctant to trust them now.

If you're in Hunter's ridge or any other area of Fonana serviced by Verizon, FiOS is available.

I think you guys are talking about 2 separate things.
FiOS service has been available for quite a while, but it only covers internet and telephone.
This thread is about FiOS TV, which has not been available yet.

I believe PanoramaGuy is referring to the TV service, and tostada is referring to the internet/telephone service.

Yes, I'm referring to the complete package. They've made so many empty promises over the last year that I've lost all confidence in Verizon. I'm currently not doing any business with them. I get my Cable and Internet service from TWC, and my phone service from Vonage.

Ok, I'm on the same page now...

Yes, still no TV, but I wouldn't put the blame on Verizon. They've had it on their plan for 18 months to get TV in our area, but as I've mentioned, the City of Rancho continues to impede FiOS installs around the Etiwanda wire center, and without the upgrade to the Etiwanda wire center, no TV for us.

I'm not blaming Verizon for the delay in service, but I do blame them for the misinformation that their representatives have given out over the past year. At one point, last summer, they sold us FiOS based on a promise that it would include TV within 2 months. When the installer showed up, and told us it wasn't true, we canceled immediately. %3cngry

I remember the door to door reps last summer. They told me two months as well, but I knew better. I did bring this to the attention of the FiOS TV executive office, and the next time the reps came by my house, they no longer mentioned TV.

Again, last summer, TV would have been there had Rancho not tossed up another road block.

Even with the TV issue, the FiOS internet service is light years ahead of TWC. At least with FiOS you get the as-published speeds no matter what the time of day. When I had TWC, it was only at 5am that I could, and in the evening it wasn't even close.
